Hi everyone--

I`ve been on the fence about this decision, and I`m aware that time is growing short. I thought I`d ask what others do about holiday gifts (and cards) for clients.

Do you send them? How much do you spend (average) per client? Any ideas/ tips/ dos or don`ts?

Thanks for any ideas! :) Katherine

That`s a terrific article! Thanks very much for posting the link.

The point about keeping gifts simple but meaningful really resonates with me. I like your idea of a photo card, as well as the reminder to share one of your talents your clients might not know you have.

One of my favorite clients sent me a rose bush last spring when I finished a big project for them. I was so surprised! It meant even more to me when she told me it was her father`s very favorite type of rose (he died not long ago). I think of Juliana and her love for her father every time I look at that rose bush--it was such a thoughtful, surprising, and meaningful gift.

I think the idea for a startup to send business holiday cards to clients is nice, but not very scalable. If you start sending cards, then stop after a few years you will be leaving your original clients disappointed. just something to think about. On the other hand though, there are huge companies (banks, mailorder, etc.) that send holiday cards to all their clients every year. I guess it just depends where your focus is and if you have customers that care.
