Our senses are notorious for being the least reliable way to gain knowledge and understanding. Yet so many people believe that if something feels right, it`s indeed right and correct and true in an objective way.
I looked at the first illusion on this page and just couldn`t believe it. So, despite further proofs and evidence, I copied the image into Paint Shop Pro, created an area of gray matching the one checker square, then moved it to the other.
I`ll be flummoxed if it isn`t exactly the same color!
Yikes!!At the bottom of the page are links to a whole world of other fascinating illusions, for your entertainment. But keep in mind that if you use your eyes to validate reality, either for yourself or for other people, you`re running a risk. Maybe something to consider when it comes to Web page design, colors, and layout?
