I just fired mine for incompetence.

If you know a good one that you have personally experienced I would appreciate a recommendation.

I hired and fired a couple firms before my partner and I decided to learn the methodology ourselves.  Over the past year or so we have increased traffic and sales conversions exponentially.  There are over 150 organic links on google.com dedicated to our portal which we do not pay anything for. 

We recently started doing this work for other websites and currently have 3 contracts we are working on.  Our fees are so much lower they are not comparable to what I found while I was hiring firms to do SEO for me.
