If you do, do you think it`s time to cash out, as they are saying?  It`s pretty ugly out there, isn`t it? Take the money and pay taxes on it, or ride it out and be the few that still have stocks.Could you be one of the one`s that could still prosper in the market? What do you think?  I would be very interested in hearing how everyone feels about this.

Oh yeah.. and you can be a start up and, still have stocks.  Many Gramma`s and Grampa`s have left something for many. So, if that`s you or me, I wish us all a way to figure out what to do in this economy!!

It is a scary time if you have investments affected by the stock market. There are some options:
Diversify investments - a combination of stock and bonds and different levels of risk is good. Pulling out of the market is a little drastic. But, if everything collapses - it would have been a good choice.

The problem is answering this is - each person`s situation is different. They have different reasons/purposes for the investment, different years until they "plan" to use the investment, and different abilities to wait out (or not) market fluctuations.

If you pull out of the market you are essentially locking in any loss.... offset by the the relative comfort that you won`t lose any more money in the market.

Yikes, I tuned into this topic `cause I thought it was about cooking! I just made some chicken stock, and thought we`d be examining recipes.

I`m guessing "stock" meant something else?

We`re going to ride it out.

Funny you should post this Janie, with everything going on these days, our investment guy just called at the end of last week to see if we have any questions or if we were worrying about anything.

I said "Do you have some of our money or something?" He laughed, he said if all his customers were like us, his life would be so much easier.

As he said, people have money invested for different reasons. We have a lot of years left until retirement, he says, it has gone up and down and the ones that just ride the waves, that don`t panic and leave things were they are, usually are the ones that do the best.

Actually, since things are so bad right now, I am looking at how much I can free up and am thinking now is the best time to put as much in as I can, as he said, it is a great time to get more money invested. We have ours spread out enough across the board in a variety of things that he says we actually aren`t doing to badly right now. . .I just hope the bottom doesn`t fall out and we don`t lose everything, but, I guess we won`t be alone. . .

Pam. I just noticed your reply.  I agree also - ride it out.  I think I`d just prefer not to listen to the news anymore.

Craig, go to the food section to look for recipes.  You`re such a nut.
