After all the hubbub with the last laptop, I went and bought a new one ... and in the middle of posting my blog entry for today, it went to sleep from low battery. (Huh? It was plugged in ...)

Yes, after a month of owning the new laptop, THE POWER CORD HAS STOPPED WORKING.

For someone who spends half my life on a laptop, computers sure do hate me.

So now I`m doing nothing (on the old laptop) until my Genius Bar appointment in a few hours so they can replace the cord (which better be under warranty unless someone over there wants to get hurt). And of course hoping I didn`t just lose my entire article I had written.

Sometimes I wonder if technology saves time or spends it. I think there are times I can do things faster with a pen and paper.  Sorry to hear of your troubles, but I don`t think your computer hates you. Macs love everyone...

Nikole, I just asked my computer about you and it doesn`t hate you.  It has enjoyed its few brief digital interactions with you via SuN here.  Being a Mac, it apologizes on behalf of all Macs that have wronged you.  It doesn`t see why your`s would have went to sleep in the mid ...  zzzzzzzz

That is the beauty of technology, those little wonderful misconceptions. While they offer so much in terms of time savings and efficieny they also offer so much in terms of distraction.

Then there is the other misconceptions the little hidden ones that technology will work when you need it most. Think about all those businesses out there running on technology and have no backups, no backup computer hardware or no budget to go out and get their machine fixed when they need to. The ones that don`t realize their business rides and relies on that technology and if that technology was gone or their website was down they are losing business. Blows my mind sometimes.

Good luck with your laptop!

Problem is solved. Power cord mysteriously stopped working after less than a month. I swear, I`ve had it with laptop issues ... one was a lemon, one lost all wireless and they told me it was "liquid damage" although I`d never done anything to it (fixing would cost me a new motherboard), and now this one with the power cord.

It`s a well known fact that computers generally fail to work properly for anyone with a name that has the letter "N" anywhere in it. I know this because I read it on the Internet.

My recommendation would be to immediately, legally change your name so that you have no "Ns" in the new name. Vincent is right, you`re under the threat of double-trouble, as you continue forward in the computer-dominated world.
