My home office overlooks a tranquil, peaceful lake, in a beautiful woodsy setting and is extremely quiet. I don`t have any children or pets, so I rarely have any distractions whatsoever.

What about you?

Do you have a quiet home office...or are there distractions? If so, how do you deal with those distractions?

I don`t have distractions ... only inspirations.

(A toddler, 2 dogs, 4 cats, 2 employees, family forgetting I work for a living, etc etc etc)

I get pretty distracted lately in my home studio but then again, I just moved and everything is sorta chaotic right now.  To add to it, I`ll be moving again in a few months so my current working environment feels temporary.  When I get to my new house, I`ll be able to set up my studio in just the right way.

I just moved into a new house, so, the semi-home office (I have a nine-to-fiver) is a work-in-progress and won`t look right until my interior-decoration-minded wife gets a crack at the room.
I am usually accompanied in my office by a golden retriver who thinks my full time job should be petting her.

From September to June - no distractions.  From June to September -  2... and all their friends.  I tried to call them inspirations, I really did.  But, unless I decided to start a martial arts studio, I just can`t call them that.

give them popsicles and Nerf guns and tell them to go harrass the stray cats

Actually, I just have to change my work hours and habits.  It makes doing anything for longer than about 15 minutes impossible so all "big projects" have to be put aside for the summer.

Now that`s funny!

I guess having a great sense of humor like yours doesn`t hurt either.

I deal with distractions by sticking to a daily schedule, which I usually make up on the fly.  For example, I`ll say things like "I`ll work on this project for two hours, then respond the things that pop up during my day."

I wish Nerf guns solved my problems.  Actually, when I was at Nickelodeon, us animators would have mass Nerf wars and the producers would have to come in and tell us to get back to work.  So to me, Nerf = distraction.  :)
