Very true and the Aldi model might be a good staring point, but who Knows, should be interesting but hopefully not too late for those businesses that are doing well.

windows made good observations about cost-cutting and its impacts.  The key problem is short-sightedness of business owners.  They can see the immediate benefits of cost-cutting measures vs. of moves for boosting business thru serving the customers better as at Aldi, which in near terms costs money.  But then long term consequences are different stories that cost-cutters and owners can't associated  with their poor decisions.
