I have been charged with developing a nation wide sales channel (independent contractor) for our business.  I created a web site fo rafter hours training, we hold webinar training and we offer a great compensation plan.  I hired two recruiters one in the northeast and one in the southeast.
They use monster.com to harvest email and canidate information as well as craigslist, they get people interested but no-one is selling what is going one???  We are finding that noone is going out to actively pursue new customers or develop their market place, we send them a sales manual that costs nearly $150 and we are still facing poor sales.  what can I do??

I`m 24 years old - I start out with that so that you don`t think I`m an "old fuddy duddy" (no offense to any actual old fuddy duddies out there).

I don`t think Monster, CareerBuilder, other websites like them, or Craigslist are good places for prospecting. I never found a job on any of them, and I get the impression that there are more scams on them than in the classifieds in the newspaper. And it`s easier to pick out the scams in the paper (harder to tell if something is actually legitimate on the internet).

There are other more knowledgeable people here on StartUpNation, but I would also refer you to Jeffrey Gitomer. His weekly newsletter is a great sales resources (as are his little red, yellow, green, black, platinum, books).

Hope this helps!

I`ve been using Monster, CareerBuilder, etc., and whenever I see one of these emails I just automatically delete it. It`s pretty easy to separate the spam from actual job listings I`d be interested in reading. Same with Craig`s List.

I`d argue that perhaps one of the reasons for at least a 1% increase in unemployment is the move to online job postings by these gigantic sites. They`ve removed the interaction between a candidate and a store manager so completely, that it`s almost impossible to even find a "Help wanted" listing anymore.

The independent contractor model is going to be tough to find great sales talent who will get results for you.  You can`t hold them accountable, hard to support, manage, motivate and train them.  Many of them work part time.  The best sales talent out there these days is looking for a great base/salary/benefits/bonus/commission.  You may be better off hiring 2-5 sales professionals, versus trying to "hire" 25-50 IC`s...might get more `bang for your buck` so to speak.  I may be way off, since I don`t know too many details on your particular situation.  But, I hope this helps.
