Hello all,

I am new to the website.  I am a podiatrist who is at the beginning stages of developing a specific type of casual shoe.  I am not a designer by trade but a podiatrist who has an interest in designing a shoe and selling it/starting my own company.  Does anyone have any experience in this department?  I do not want to make the shoe but design it and have someone else make the prototype?

Help.

you should probably consider patent protection to get copying to a minimum.

Dear Drshoereview

Does anyone make custom shoes these days?

Fifty years ago every town had a cobbler or shoe repair shop

If you are in a medium size city you should be able to find a  master craftsman up to the task.

Get on the phone and ask if they are interested in the job.

If yes set up meeting.

Important! Be sure to have the craftsman sign a mutual nondisclosure agreement before you show him any of your ideas.

Patent or prototype first? Tough question

Massive success to you.

If you are designing fashion shoes, CHIKO Shoes (www.chikoshoes.com) is very helpful! I have turned two of my design sketches into wearable shoes. ;-)
