Been thinking of putting up a business for over a year now.  But i really find it hard to choose what my business should be.  I just feel that somehow that my business concept that ill be having will somehow fail.  Hope you guys could give some business ideas...

Why do you think your concept will fail. If you`re going to make it in business you should have a "no quit" and "failure is not an option" mentality

Hi,

Belief in yourself is a critical competency for any entrepreneur. So what if you do fail? It`s only a failure if you don`t try (sounds corny but true). Let me just say that every start-up fails or better yet has "failures." It`s how you handle those failures and then make the changes necessary that will shape your success.

Do your homework prior to opening the business and don`t go it alone!

Good luck!

First of all, I don`t think anyone can really answer your statement "Hope you guys could give some business ideas." I`d suggest that you first need to get a handle on what it is that you`re excited about. You don`t want to start or get into a business that you`re not excited about. Ideally, the business that you`d start would be an intersection of your passion, purpose, and competency. A couple of my favorite books on this subject are Dan Miller`s "48 Days to the Work You Love" and Max Lucado`s "Cure for the Common Life: Living in Your Sweet Spot."

As for failure, sure, it`s going to happen at times. But that`s "failure" with a small "f." I liken it to losing a battle but winning a war. Every successful entrepreneur has experienced failures along the road to success. But if fear of failure keeps us from taking those first steps toward our dreams, then that`s what I`d consider failure with a capital "F."

So, (1) determine your mission, (2) brainstorm some ideas to turning it into a business, then (3) take one idea and run with it. Those other ideas may also turn into businesses at some point, but start with one and pour your energy into it.

You may want to consider some sort of overall psychological counseling. The fear of failure on such a broad spectrum is similar to free-floating anxiety, which eventually can become full-blown anxiety attacks. With so many variables in such a complex environment as the human mind, you`d likely do well in a one-on-one discussion with a counselor or therapist who understands this type of anxiety.
