Day 1

This is the official clue to Day 1 of the StartupNation Capture the Flag contest.

Today’s Prize – PIZZA!!!

The “Capture the Flag” Contest daily prize for today is $100 worth of pizza from your favorite pizza place. It’s on us! We know pizza is sacred food for entrepreneurs – and we want to make sure you get your fill as you seek success! You tell us what your favorite pizza place is, and we’ll contact that business to set up a $100 credit for you. Order your pizza over weeks or months, or maybe throw a customer appreciation party and use all $100 at once. Enjoy!

To help you learn more about using StartupNation, each daily clue includes a tip on how to make the most of the resources available at this site. Expect to pick up some great ideas about our online Community, how-to articles, the new Marketplace, and many other StartupNation features designed to help you succeed in business.

Day 1 Clue

How to “capture” today’s Flag Icon:

Today’s Flag Icon can be found on the profile page of a community member who has made their personal profile as robust as possible.

  • Click on the “Member Search” Orange Tab above. It will take you to this page.
  • This person is in New Hampshire, so select NH in the State dropdown box, and then click on search
  • Scan the results for this description in the ‘What I Do’ column: “Mom of 2 and Specialty Food Business Owner
  • Select this member and you’ll be taken to their profile page
  • Find the Flag Icon and click on it to Capture the Flag!

Now for the “tip” part:

The first stop in building a strong foundation for your StartupNation experience is your own personal member profile. Creating a profile that’s robust and complete is a terrific way for you to market yourself and to set yourself apart in the community. A fully completed profile helps to define you and your business, and can be a jumping off point to your website where others can learn even more about you and your current or future business.

Today’s Flag Icon can be found on the profile page of a community member who has made their personal profile as robust as possible. This member has:

  • Uploaded a photo of themselves to use as an avatar
  • Uploaded a company logo
  • Completed the “What I Do” and “Interests” sections
  • Written a complete and succinct description in the “More About Me” section
  • Added 10 business and personal photographs
  • Provided a website link
  • Contributed to community forum posts, which are listed in the profile
  • Created a Marketplace listing of products available, which shows up in the profile

This is a great example of using a profile as a strong marketing tool.

Good luck! Check in again tomorrow for the Day 2 Clue & Tip & Prize.

The flag is very obvious on the page. Once you get to the proper page, it should be in plain view. Many people have found it but we`re hearing from a few of you who cannot see it for some reason.

As Rich said, please send me a message if you cannot see the flag. We`ll get to the bottom of what`s going on and get it fixed. We`ll also make certain that if you send me a message that you are entered in the contest.

remember, everyone, you can collect flags from every day, even if that day has passed - and this helps you get additional chances to win the $1,000 grand prize at the end of the contest.

game on!!!!
