Need advice on setting up a database for a directory of 50 U.S. states. Currently we`re hardcoding all info. Have grown to the point where this is too time consuming now.

1. Can you name a canned software package to make a simple directory?  Here`s the current format: http://www.consignmentpal.com/eBay/Montana.html

2. Can a programmer easily tie the database into our existing Yahoo Sitebuilder website?

I`m in San Antonio and would like to work with a local programmer if possible.

I`ve read many forum posts and appreciate your guidance.

Thanks,

Linda

I recently did a search for a directory script/program and settled on "php Linkdirectory" for a client`s website.

It is inexpensive ( a free version, $25, and $75 version)..and has a lot of features.

Thanks Roland. Incredible features!  I`ve looked over the site and I`m still going to need a programmer.

I want a yellow pages type directory with lots of features.

1. Has anybody used "phpMyDirectory"?

2. Has anybody used both "phpLinkdirectory" and "phpMyDirectory"?

3. Which do you like better?

I`m meeting with a programmer today.

Thanks,

Linda

I`ve used phpLinkDirectory

I looked at phpmyDirectory... looks like a good product but bought phpLinkDirectory as it was less expensive.

PhpLinkDirectory uses "smarty" for it`s templates - I`m not sure about phpMyDirectory. Smarty is different than PHP... so to change the look or layout of the directory you need to learn a little about smarty.  There are phplinkDirectory template available too.
