Quentin,
I, too...am this type, with ideas flowing profusely. I`m going to be honest and make points in the hopes that some creative brainstorming of your situation helps you and others like us. I lack the cohesiveness of the perfectly stuctured explanation, but mine my mind vitamins for their worth.
They put me on a high dose of medicine with a false diagnosis, when my only psycholical sin is that I`m hypoglycemic, needing to make sure I snack often. Once I realized this, I lowered my psyche dosage to near nothing and together with regular balanced snacks, I can steer my creative swings from relative steady contemplation, to all out frantic notes of great names, products, slogans, etc. At 10.oo pr. year registration I have 175+ domains with over 100 corresponding blogs, and 50+ E-mails, and of course poetry. I am just barely managing to pay for one big canvass full of ideas in hopes my financial and business partnership life will improve.
The thing that jumps to mind is your question of what to do with multiple ideas, when reality says that the market is ripe with frivilous maybes and not a lot of people see the great in the gravy you`re wishing to dish. I say, don`t you dare sell without ensuring that your residual % is part of the contract. Selling lock stock and barrell without even an agreement of 1% of profits...is absurd. Ongoing revenue stream is critical.
You said yourself you wish someone would run the business and you would get a small portion for having made it a reality and helped them have success.
I dream on the internet, and I keep shaving it down to the best my mind thinks of. I am not yet a business per se or a company, but I imagine what I would most like to do. My idea was that the biggest potential entrepreneurs, startup adventurers and future small business successes are the up and coming youth. Help them startup and you have a gold mine of creativity to access for your overall vision. When you practically give them the domain and business, helping with seeking funding, all you have to do is stipulate that a small percentage return to the main (DannyBrand) and also a small percentage to the company charity. Well, that is my dreamscheme regardless if I have no investment mony right now. Just, whatever you do, please don`t listen to anyone who says stop. It is an obvious natural phenomenon that any kid will approach burnout, collapse, and regroup. Just protect your best stuff so if you do fall down you won`t wipe out. I think it`s called investors insurance.
Okay, before I go....I looked at BizUps! You got a some great ones and you got some so so ones. While you`re trying to find the right market, do you think maybe that your best, my best, and mrX`s best voted on in a poll and shaved down to the most irresistable package going? I`m telling you, I don`t. Why? Because either people are going for the franchises of existing companies or they are taking CoffeeChains, stealing your idea of beans on a wire and calling it something different like ChoffeeChainz. See? I started doing the very same thing and realized that the only way I`m going to have success is get the domain, yes. #2. promote my own brand of packaged help and support to others(without just giving the idea away). #3. Start with one product through all the right channels, with the hope that the creative extreme and the practicality of step by step growth, will come together before too much of my s**t get`s stolen. And that`s my plan.
I sure wish I had your budget and my plan of action. I wish we could make one great portfolio out of your ideas and mine. At least do this much. Be artistic and use luxurious leather and create an awsome portfolio notebook of ideas. Something you would be proud to show investors. Then shave it an add to it until it is irresistable. And put a logo at the top of each one in full color. Oh, I`m going on....HappyHalloween. ~daniel~
