I am looking to get my website listed in DMOZ or other prominent directories and would like to know if there are any moderators in the SUN community or if anyone in SUN knows a moderator who might be willing to help out.

Secondly,  has anyone had any success with paid inclusion into Google, Yahoo, and MSN search engines?

Hi, I`m the editor for the DMOZ/Open Directory Project subject of travel writing, but the site has had a few technical problems lately. They are working hard to fix them but when you submit your URL there may be some delays.

A quick look at your area of expertise (language tutoring and translation for business) tells me that perhaps this top level in the DMOZ is a good place to submit your site. Click at the top where it says "suggest URL."

Sheila,

Thanks for your help.

Our main focus in private and business foreign language training.  Interpreting and Translation are additional services that we offer but are not our main focus.

Do you think that this top level would be more appropriate for what we do?

Yes, I think that`s a good one.  Just remember the editor may not have access for awhile to approve newly-submitted URLs because of the backend site technical problems.

If you`re writing good content on your blog or site and posting fairly frequently, with cross-links to other sites, the search engines will find you....they did for me.

The search engines have found my site already but being listed in DMOZ will give my site more authority.

Thanks for your help.

Good luck with a timely submission into DMOZ.  It could literally takes months.  Mine was seven months before it was added.

The underlying value of a link from DMOZ is gradually being devalued by their own inability to effectively run the directory - here`s a good summation of the problems the open directory is facing, and why a link from there ain`t what it used to be.

I`ve been trying to add my site to DMOZ for the last four weeks, there service is "temporarily unavailable", so you can`t even add your site.  The message says to check back in a few days.  After reading the summation of problems suggested above, I`ve lost my obsession to get included.

Read this article published today to find out what`s going on with DMOZ.  It`s not dead but not reall alive either.  No matter what the heck is going on with it, it`s still important for Search Engine Rank.

Give up on DMOZ.  The credibility is out the door.  You`d be much better off working with SEO on your website and quality content.  Then submitting your site to all the major search engines manually.
