Cuil (pronounced cool) is a new search engine from a former Google employee.

Cuil said its search engine goes beyond traditional approaches by analyzing the context of each page and the concepts behind each query so it can provide better rankings by content rather than popularity. Cuil then organizes similar results into groups and sorts them by category. It also offers tabs to clarify subjects, as well as suggestions on how to refine searches.

It has indexed about 120 billion of the approximately 1 trillion website out there. You can ask for your site to be indexed... can`t hurt. It does follow robots.txt rules.

Roland,

Very Cool! I even like the simplicity of it and the viewing is a good change.

I see the appeal of it for some people ... for me, the results organization is a bit bothersome and the functionality leaves a lot to be desired. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, however ...

I did notice that I was already in there. I suppose that is good for me.

hmmm.. cuil... seems neat... I mean at a time you can see all the search results in one screen... which makes things easier... i checked out the Preferences section... it has not got an option of selecting the “Number of Results” 10, 20 or 50 like google... sure it needs loads of work... before it could even stand up to the users expectation.... as users are already used to the  big bosses way - google....

I like CUIL, it was about time!
We needed change! perhaps that will change Google`s outlook. To be honest, I never cared about Google... Nor their Ad-Words Program... Yet I pay the $1.95 a month "Just to be indexed".

Hopefully, CUIL will shake Google out of their boots...

What on earth are you paying $1.95 for?
