First things first...

You have GOT to get rid of the animated gif on the gallery page. VERY ANNOYING.

The keywords at the bottom are extremely unprofessional in my opinion. You need to work this information into the site rather than just hanging it out there.

The site doesn`t really have any style. I find it boring and too wordy. The site needs to tell me what you can do for me, not spend its time stroking itself. Verbiage like "recognized for my invaluable service." sounds conceited and self-important.

I would strongly recommend that you look at other photographer sites and see what they are doing. If you do not have the technical skills in web design to create a really great site, hire someone who does. It will cost you some money up front but it will more than pay for itself in the long run.

Please understand that I am trying to be as honest with this critique as possible. I am not trying to be mean or derogatory. I would really like to see your site be something special.

Good luck!

The animated GIF screams AMATEUR - get rid of it now!

The text is too small, and italics is difficult enough to read already.  Not all browsers display things the way yours may so use a standard font that all browsers can display.

Personally I hate all-centered text.  It looks like a menu in a classy restaurant.  And the text doesn`t flow well.  Speaking of text, you misspelled "portrait" at least once.

Personally, I think you have gorgeous photos, but your website does not do them justice. I would spend $500 or so to get your site redone so that you have good SEO, good text, good design and much better galleries for your images.

Or, alternately, take a look into something like Joomla, which you could set up yourself with a professional template, spending maybe $100, and put in some sweat equity to learn the system.

BUT, as Jeff recommended, take a look at some photographers` sites first. There are some truly gorgeous ones out there that are all about the photos.

Ok apparently my website sucks.  Anyone know of someone who can build a better one for me?  A website where I can maintain and update myself when I chose to?

Thanks everyone

For a site that you can maintain without much html knowledge, you can use a CMS program like Joomla.  Some people even use WordPress... and there are other CMS options.

Joomla is nice because it is FREE, you just need to pay for web hosting. A lot of web hosts install Joomla (or other CMS programs) for you.

You may want to hire someone to design the site, they can start with a template to cut down on some of the design costs.

Another option - how much of the site do you want to maintain? That is, if you only need to be able to upload or change photos that is a lot different than being able to change every web page.  If you just want to manage your photo gallery that can be accomplished with a gallery script... you do not need to use Joomla (nor learn how to use Joomla).

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

Yes, I would recommend Joomla as well. Getting a professional custom template is a must, but with Joomla, you will be able to update and maintain your website yourself easily.
