I like the second one better, with the black frame and the ordinary typeface in the navigation area. However, in both sites, on Firefox 1.x, the snapshots along the top border covered up portions of the links at the top.

you mean the pictures on top covered up the quote?

I dunno if it`s a quote...
Before it got covered up I saw "News," then "A funny thing happened..." and some other stuff. Then it went away when the snapshot pictures filled in and covered up the next part.

I would go web 2.0. Keep things clean and professional with a touch of pop where needed.

The black and white is not my favorite ... shades in between are softer on the eyes.

The image is not covering up the quote ... it`s there if you highlight the page, it`s black on black so you can`t see it trail across the page. It actually goes across the page and runs underneath the "NEWS" part.

"Sparking School Spirit" is weirdly hidden and overlapping the top line of "Updates for ...".

The archives are even worse, in terms of the overlapping. There are 3 images at the top of this page that just float on top of everything.

Mac OS X, Firefox 2.0.0.3

In IE 6 for WinXP:
That page I linked has better spacing, and surprisingly, the whole background is a different color! But the pictures are still overlapping oddly at the top.
The main page spacing works and doesn`t overwrite other parts of the text.

nhgnikole ,

I made the tables on my site have more opacity, so they are hopefully more gentle on the eyes-what`t do you think>?

(I wanted to have the black because that`s our school colors)

I still just see black and white.

You may want to just consider using a service like TypePad to make the site and then you just add pages to it ... this would be easier perhaps than you trying to figure out why things are overlapping on your page (which they still are).

The second one didn`t show anything.

The first one, I have one suggestion, to increase
you font size.

I loved the quote on the top of the page. Increase
the font size to make readable because it`s very
powerful.

Won`t Be Denied!
