Am I correct that you need to create an .ico file to have your logo appear in the browser address window? If I am right, how would one go about this?

We used Photoshop (you could use another image editing software) and created a 16x16 pixel file of the image we used for our favicon.

We then created a favicon file using a website such as http://www.favicon.co.uk/ or http://www.degraeve.com/favicon/. We found these by doing a Google search for "favicon creator".

Once you have the favicon.ico file, just upload it to the root directory of your website.

Once the favicon.ico file has been uploaded, go to your website. It might take hitting refresh a couple of times to make your favicon appear.

It is as simple as that!

I used Icon Suite. I tried it with Paint Shop Pro, but it doesn`t really do a good job.

The easiest way I`ve found .... make a 64 x 64 px new image in your image program .... stick in whatever you want your icon to be ( image, letters, etc. ), then resize to 16 x 16 px. Save it as favicon.ico and put it in your sites root ( main ) directory. In your header tags, put this without the spaces at the beginning and end ....

< link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" />

The link I provided above will convert any image to a favicon... and there are two icon image sizes to choose from and animated or not too.
No need to use any graphics program.

I agree with Roland on the link, as I"ve used that one before.

But I disagree on the graphics program. I think you need a really clean image to use or it`s just not going to make sense.
