The clamoring from the community reached a fevered pitch, the terrific suggestions came rolling in, the strategy has been put in place, and now all that`s left is the implementation!

Beginning today, the forum categories are receiving a timely makeover. We`re moving from 7 major categories to 10, and each category will have 2-3 sub-categories for easier navigation and cleaner topic posting. We`ll still have the ever-popular "Category Stew" to catch all the topics that don`t seem to fit in the categories presented.

You`ll see this change taking place over the next several days, so bear with us a bit in the transition. We believe we`ve thought of all the angles regarding this change, but if you notice something goofy, just post a comment here & we`ll address it.

Feel free to let us know what you like or not about this change as well. The StartupNation team listens to y`all!! That`s the whole reason why we`re making this enhancement.

OK, Phase 1 of the implementation is complete. the forum categories are all posted.

You`ll see that in each of the new sub-categories, one of them is fully populated with the existing topic posts while the others are empty. We will be going through the process of migrating topics into the new proper home for them based on their specific & unique content. That process will take a little while, so please be patient with us.

The specific page url`s for each of the existing categories will not change, but you may find that you`ll need to do a forum search for some of your favorite topics as they find their new homes. This short term pain will be bring forth long term gain for all!

In the meantime, you may begin to post new topics into the new categories right now!!

Joel -

Thank you!  The changes not only provide better organization, but my guess is that some of the sub-categories will inspire a broader base of discussion topics.

Thanks Joel !
I`m always going to be the squeaky wheel when it come to manufacturing.

I`d like to see the word added:
Inventing > Developing Your Invention > designers, prototypes, manufacturing

Also, where would posts about Fulfillment & shipping  go?

Joel,

I`m getting used to the expanded categories. It really does make more sense to get more defined with topics.

One quick suggestion I have is to change the title of  "Are You Commu"Nutty"" ? to simply   "Commu-Nutty"  The description below it then spell out what people will find there.

I don`t know why this stuck out like a sore thumb to me. It just didn`t feel right.

I`ll try to focus a little more deeply in the near future.

I completely understand the importance of advertising to this site. However, I don`t know  how comfortable I am yet with the ads in the middle of the threads.  I`m just talking out loud here so don`t take this to heart. It just may take some warming up to. Overall I think you guys (Joel and Gang), are doing an excellent job. Best Wishes!

I am with you on that, Ken.  They are, if I may put it this way, like the annoying commercials when you`re watching a great movie. But I am sure they are there for a reason ... sponsorship, maybe? No biggie, we`ll get use to them!

Maybe one of these days, SuN members can win a free space as such to advertise their business?

I am still learning to navigate my way through the forums, so, it is likely that what I’m going to suggest may already be somewhere and I have just can`t find it, if that is the case, please make it easier to find.

It would be nice to have a ‘view all posts since’ with a drop down menu 1 hour, 2 hours, 5 hours, 1 day, 2 days, etc. We do have a ‘New Topics’ section on the Home/Community page but that does not tell us of any new posts on the threads that we have already read/replied to. As far as I can tell the only way to view new posts is to go to each individual thread, that is entirely too time consuming.
