I agree with you guys. Many blogs set the comment feature as a "nofollow" these days. I still comment on blogs though. Not so much for getting backlinks, but rather to socialise with other fellow bloggers.
If the intention is to get backlinks, it is better to find blogs with high PR.
But first make sure that it is not set as a "nofollow."
To see if it is set as "nofollow" is very easy.
Just check the page source code.
If you are using firefox, you can click on "Edit" then "Find."
Then simply type in "nofollow" in the find search tab, and see if the comments link are set to "nofollow" or not.
Nevertheless, this procedure is quite time consuming.
For me, if the intention is to get backlinks, I think it is better to focus on other tactics such as:
- Article writing
- Submitting to web directories
