Hi,
Engraver,
My city
ordinances have the similar restrictions on home occupation businesses, and
then some. If I want to avoid all these restrictions, I can either move to
or have my name listed in an address within an unincorporated city, which there
is little or no restrictions on home occupation businesses. My third option
would be to rent a “private mailbox” for the shortest rental term being offered
and go through the process of filing for a business permit to see if my city
official would actually checking in on my “business address” before approving
my application.
Before I
found out about Startupnation.com, I used to, and still do, read articles from Entrepreneur.com
on eBay businesses. There is one article that talks about how a lady from Long
Beach, California, who wishes to sell psychic reading sessions from home over
the Internet, gets turned down for a business permit due to the foreseeable
customer traffic, and eventually gets her permit. Here’s the article: http://www.Entrepreneur.com/article/0,4621,285818,00.html
And the
questions I posted at the very beginning of this topic came from this article: http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/0,4621,322983,00.html
Before I
give the suggestions or options I gathered a try, I will seek the help of a
business attorney from my city.
