Good evening ladies and gents,
This is my first post at what seems to be a pretty useful forum. I'll explore more later, but I'll introduce myself first.
I'm 24 years old, about three years removed from college. I graduated with a degree in Computer Science, but find myself having to try and master many more areas than that - the benefits of being on your own 
I started my company in May of 2009 as a side project. I slowly started focusing more and more of my time on it until it finally became my full time job. It's now to the point where it pays my bills, and converts really well, but doesn't make quite enough for me to go out and hire help or invest heavily in SEO and/or advertising. The important thing though, is that as long as it keeps converting well then I will be able to try more aggressive advertising mediums.
I took on a partner in April of 2011. No offense to him, but it was the biggest mistake of my life - a mistake that cost me 30% of my business and gave me little to nothing in return. I once again work alone, this time as a 70% owner. The partner is not actively involved.
In August of 2011 we got a huge upgrade in domain names, switching form PickMonitor.com to Line.com. The switch wasn't perfect. It took me about 8 months to recover all of the link juice, and I don't own the Line.com domain name - rather I lease it with the agreement that it will be traded either for cash or a percent ownership upon certain investment milestones.
The business is a social network for people who bet on sports. Unlike 99% of the companies in this industry, however, we don't scam people. Thus, we've been been able to retain a good chunk of our users. It's a very unique concept to the industry and sales are starting to pick up. The search engines are finally starting to respect us as well, and that should help things a great deal.
That was sort of a random introduction, but that's me in a nutshell.
