Hello,

I have been searching the internet for a few weeks and have been unable to find this key piece of information. What is the general business assumption one can make as to how many customers you might have per day? I know of course nothing is guaranteed, but I have been able to find assumptions for other types of businesses, such as capturing 1% of the traffic that drives by, or .5% of houses in a five mile radius, etc...

I am wondering what can best be applied to barber shops/salons. General estimations are fine. Thank you.

Just looking for more feedback, I thought a different forum might help. Thank you.

This is way to volatile of a business variable to attach any type of meaningful general rule.

Even days make huge differences.

I will give you an example.  I used to have a friend who owned a business in Los Angeles.

Mon. - Wed.  the business was virtually dead with not many customers coming in at all.

Thurs. - Sun.  Business was booming and tons of customers would come in.

The best way to answer this question is to do a real world research project.

Items like location, quality of product, marketing efforts will all play huge roles in the outcome and are business aspects that vary drastically from owner to owner

Your closest option to figuring this out would be to buy an existing business that has an established customer base. Although you might not know exactly how many customers come in everyday, you can still get an estimated amount based on past data.

Walk by some local barber shops in your area at various days and times. Newly established shops may give you an idea of how much business you might expect at first.

Also take note of older barbers who might consider letting you take over their business now or pehaps over time.

Good Luck

This is an interesting subject.  I suppose before you invest money to start a barber shop, you could hire a temp to observe a local shop and count the number of customers going in and out. At $7.25 per hour (minimum wage) you could get some interesting stats at a relatively low cost

I think, you should visit at least 3 to 4 barbers shop. you can get huge knowledge related to your topic and you can ask question about daily income. i think, famous barbers have lots of customers and get enough money per day.
