Hi guys,

I just finished building my website and I need some honest feedback on it.

The goal is to make people want to buy the product AND get paid to give me referrals for new clients.

You can view the site here

I appreciate your feedback and your time.

Thanks!

I`m a bit fuzzy about what your target market is.  The site looks good and overall the message is strong, but it seems to stray a lot.

While I understand that the product works in all sorts of vehicles, the drivers/owners of these various kinds of vehicles are different consumer markets.  With the imagery on the home page, you`ve got pro race cars, regular cars like you and I drive and big 18-wheeler trucks.  That`s 3 different market segments, none of which usually care about the other when it comes to products for personal use.

Then your copy speaks only to the regular consumer market, drivers like me...  but only in Austin, TX.  It sounds like you are targeting the Austin geographical market and not caring about the other gazillion vehicles in other cities and states.  Is the "Ethos Challenge" only in Austin?

There`s no problem with using your Austin data as a selling point, but you should phrase it as an "example" of a town of ??? many people with ??? cars and what difference your product could make on a larger scale.  I think then people will be able to relate to the Austin stats.

And I don`t know what research you`ve done about marketing the product but I find little information on the site about personal savings, or perhaps there wasn`t one specific place where I get this info.  By personal savings, I mean how much fuel, money, environmental impact savings I will have by using the product.  The info is on the site but I found it hard to find.  And THAT I believe is the golden ticket to marketing your product.  As much as people want to "save the environment", studies show that the key factor in making sales of environmental products is personal savings, primarily cost.

As an example, compact florescent lightbulbs never sold well until they were cheap enough to create consumer cost savings, regardless of how much more energy efficient they are.  People liked the idea of the product, but wouldn`t spring for it until they proved to be financially worth it.

My point is that I think you need to clearly state some "average" savings, primarily cost, to the consumer.  I say average because I know there are tons of variables in this data, from what kinds of cars people have to the fluctuating cost of gasoline.  But I would imagine that you could get some average numbers for drivers of compact cars, full-size sedans and SUVs so that consumers can relate to the benefits.

Overall I like the site, a couple notes mostly on the product
  1. I don`t like that you offer different prices, retail, preferred and members. That just screams gimmick to me, that said, it works just fine for Sam`s clubs, Costco and others.
  2. Broken link here, it`s supposed to be a .pdf file and offers a wordpad download.
  3. I would like to see an explanation of how it works, that is lacking. That should also at least attempt to explain why is this additive not added to gas at the gas pump by the oil companies.
Also I should mention that I don`t mean a nonsense explanation like that of this site for the same product. Otherwise my general attitude towards the product would be similar to that of this guy when speaking about the testimonials your site also refers to, he said:
    1. It`s worth pointing out here that the frequent positive comments from Pacific Waste Services, regularly cited by Ethos as a big industrial user of the product, are also just testimonials. I don`t see any evidence of a proper scientific test program (for example use of placebo controls and double-blinding) at Pacific Waste, just a comment that "economy got better since we started using it".
  4.  Lastly address the issue of googling the words "ethos scam" (without the quotes), at least attempt to explain results such as this google cached page from an ex-ethos promoter.
As a potential buyer this would concern me

Ethos has been caught in so many lies that a simple google search "ethosfr, scam"  will bring up so much reading to keep you busy for weeks learning all their deseptive ploys to get to where they are today.

"They teamed up with 4e-corp early last year to bring this product/opportunity to the masses. Over 100,000 people fell prey to their flatout lies they were caught at and Enrique Himself was on many of those early calls when many MANY things came out that were later learned, Flat Out Lies.
The biggest, Ethos was already doing in excess of $100 Million a year, LOL. This was before their stock went public and Now, now they have to report to their stock holders (and the Government) just exactly how much this questionable product is actually making. Since the time the stock went public (approx 1 year ago) it went from $11/share to where it is today (last trade= 99 cents).... etc

To ElidS -

First of all - THANK YOU for taking the time to write all that and do a thorough research of my product.

Allow me to respond to your comments separately so that I make sure I answer all of them:
Thanks again for your time!

The gradient behind your product image looks funky. Maybe the jpg was saved with too high of a compression level?

Website looks good. I did spot a few misspelled words on the banner - I believe `ware` should be `wear` on the product page and faq page header. You provide everything a user could expect.

The major problem is getting people to believe fuel additives actually reduce emissions, provide savings, etc. After many years of promises from many companies selling the same thing these products just don`t work, I think the $$ savings and the numbers just don`t add up. [but that`s just my personal opinion]

You`re right. The hardest thing is to believe that all this is true.

My biggest challenge is actually telling my friends and family of my own savings (40%) because it raises their expectations, and when they see a 15% or 20% improvement, they feel that the stuff didn`t work for them.

I`ve filmed people around Austin to get their personal testimonials in a short video that`s easier to watch. Would a video like that make you give the product a shot yourself?

The challenge you have is the product`s creditiblity for a couple of reasons:

(1) This appears to be a MLM marketing scheme.

(2) Fuel saving additives do not have a great reputation / success rate in general.

I found this article which implies there is more success for diesel vehicles.

Webworld -

I`m interested in finding out why you called it "MLM marketing scheme"?

And I agree with you on your 2nd point, and so my question to all of you out there - what will make you feel comfortable test driving it yourself?

- other people`s experiences?
 - money back guarantee?
- other?
