I'm finishing up an e-book on how to create your site using WordPress, and while I KNOW I have the basics covered, I want to answer some of the specific questions I've heard people ask.

Like...

Can I use WordPress for my band? To list and keep track of my gigs?
Can I sell things on my WordPress site? How?
Can I allow users to upload their own photos or posts to my site?

...any number of specific questions you might have that wouldn't be covered in a basic, yet comprehensive tutorial on WordPress.

Please fire off a few questions you have about WordPress below so I can be sure to either include them in my e-book and video course, OR to simply write a post answering the question on my sitr. It might not be a question about WordPress specifically - rather a question about "How can I do X with my website?"

Thanks for your help! I hope I can help you all in the process!

Regards,

Just today, I was trying to figure out how to use a table in wordpress and all the videos and information online about a table plug in are about two years old. I love using charts and tables and I would love more tutelage on that.

Thanks for doing this!

Hi Angie,

I just discovered you and your site and it's going to become one of my new favorites. I have a WordPress blog but I am so untechnically savvy and just haven't invested the time to learn more about what I can and can't do with WordPress. Your info is great for someone like me.

For your ebook, maybe a section on how to upload videos and pdf files. I created a few guides that I wanted people to be able to download and it took me forever to figure out how to upload it and create a link so people could access it.

Also, embedding video into WordPress wasn't as easy as I thought.

Maybe a section on the kind of Plugins that create a sense of interactivity on your blog site like embedding surveys, promoting contests, promoting your ebook with a special graphic, or even allowing others to grab a badge for your site.

Hope that helps.

Wordpress is just as powerful as any other online blogging tools out there.

Its simple but feature rich effect is very competitive when deciding what

blogging tools to use. I have been using wordpress since it open to the public

and it never disappointed me even once.

In my experience WordPress can do...just about every thing except make the perfect 2 egg omelet.

The trick is figuring out how to do it!

There is a plugin called WP-Tables that I use when I need to display tables. It is SO simple, and up to date. Let me look around and see if I have an existing video...if not, I can make one this week.

Sorry it has taken me SOOO long to reply - I was working on my free Easy Website Playbook PREVIEW video course. You can get it by registering at http://mynameisangie.com.

Thanks Coach!

Hi Sue,

I apologize for taking so long to respond personally. I have been working on my video course for WordPress.

I just created a video for a friend last night to show her how to upload and link to a PDF. I think most users don't know that they can actually use any of the Upload/Insert icons to grab a type of file (not simply the kind referenced by the icon - like Photo, Video, Media...). Here's a video explaining how:

http://mynameisangie.com/2010/08/how-to-create-links/

For videos, I upload my videos to YouTube, and then copy and paste the embed code into the HTML editor of my WordPress post/page. Sometimes, copying/pasting the YouTube url itself into the Visual Editor works, but I've found that some plugins/themes conflict with that, so I do it the long way to be sure.

I'm still working on my ebook - but I'm releasing a FREE PREVIEW of it to subscribers at MyNameIsAngie.com. You can get it at http://www.mynameisangie.com. Even if you don't need to know these basics, someone else you know might! Feel free to share!

Thanks, and again, if you have any questions, please let me know.

Hi everyone,

The free video course I released has been so well received that I'm offering a webinar to further teach how to use WordPress.

You can learn more about it at www.playbook.mynameisangie.com.

one thing i have learned with WP is that there is nothing you cannot do.

there are some very nice forums dedicated to WP that are quite extensive - and the folks have been extremely helpful in my transition from static html websites to blogs.
