Y`know, if you stop and think about it, we`re talking about a common event here. It`s the concept of shared resources, but NOT in the sense of "community sharing." What other sense could there be?

There`s "rational self-interest," and it used to exist in America (and other countries) up until about 50 years ago. Anyone who`s grown up on a farm, or in an isolated area of the country is completely familiar with the concept as it continues even today.

Maybe another way to say it, more easily understood in a business context, is the "barter system." Another is "mutual support."

Michael T has expertise in marketing and promotion, but lacks expertise in planning and installing networks for small business technology needs. The network installer is great at putting in wire, setting up nodes, and bringing up a complete network but doesn`t know how to get that fact out to the market.

There`s a synergy of capabilities, and an exchange of value. Who brokers it? We have online resource boards, and even some startups here on SuN. There`s one fella who`s got a handyman job board, designed to put together independent contractors with homeowners who need small things done.

The problem, much like in all of e-commerce, is how to make money from it all? How to turn a profit? It seems for the moment that people are turning to selling advertising, with banner ads, and all the tools of standard money-from-ads. Is that the only way to turn a profit (other than direct retail online)?

Couldn`t Michael T gain a share of the network person`s business, to be negotiated, or set up on a commission basis? "If I can build your brand and generate steady business within 1 year, I expect to get a commission of X% of that annual revenue for Y period of time." Would that work? How would it be enforced, through a contract?

Another option is for the networker to make Michael T the Executive Director, or CEO of his small business for a contractually limited time. During that time, the networker would act like an employee of his/her own company. But instead of developing a strategy for better networking, Michael would manage the administrative and PR side of the business, in some ways like a limited-time partner. They both would draw a salary from the increasing business.

Any other ideas?

Craig,

I have several reason why I need to be part owner in this business.

  1. So I could use my share of the profits to create other business and income opportunities for others and I have no desire to make someone else wealthy  with my programs.
  2. I have the ability to review any product , service and process and make it better.  My overall business conceipt  already has the ability to make any small business grow exponentially larger.
  3. My marketing programs need committment and I don`t want to have to worry at all about whether or not each business will continue to participate within the program and I don`t want to have to make the effort of having to sell these marketing programs to each business.

There are many hungry entreprenuer want-a-bees in this world that are more than willing to participate within the structure that I am forming.  It is just a matter of locating them  now.  I`m hoping that this organization will be able to assist me in locating them.

I am willing to offer 1% of any business partnership formed to the individual who refers said partner to me.  Thats  1% ownership for the simple act of referring a potential partner.

JoeC,

Thank you for e-mailing me with your concerns. The estimated costs reflect both an entire services and 3-D games package. This is the general practice for estimates based on outsourcing each component. Please know that we have your desire for quality and ease of customer use squarely in mind. What is not clear is your intended participation in the project, through our do it yourself video library, vs. our team at Net2Mind taking it on fully and delivering the results within the specified time. Through a joint participation management of team assignments and your own involvement in providing us with self generated material as needed - the cost can be considerably reduced to under 20,000. This includes the research and follow up that will insure your success. Once the project is completed to your satisfaction we hope the resources of our website will help your business grow. I wait for your reply as to what specific measures we can assist you with. Please refer to the services brochure we sent to you. As always you may speak to me directly at 1-866-411-NICE Ext. 4

Sincerely, frndchps
