I have an LLC (Limited Liability Company) and works best for me because there's no double taxation and seems to be easier filing.  (Just another form on my standard 1040)

An aquaintance of mine used to sale wholesale items using their social security number as their tax ID and never had any trouble getting merchandise or doing their taxes. Don't know if that was the right way to actually do it, but she never had any legal or tax problems doing it that way.

Post is very useful. I would love to know myself how to get a reseller #. Already have a EIN # for my business.
