I need to target bridal shops and would like to buy an email list but have read other places that it may be illegal to use it as it may be considered spam.  Does anyone know for sure, and has anyone used any service to do this.

Hey tanzman,

Just saw your web-site... interesting idea!
How are your promotional sales going...

As far as e-mail lists, I beleive that whoever you send something to, they need to "opt in" meaning that they are somewhat interested in seeing what you have to offer. I am not sure how buying a list can achieve that.

I have read that you are correct in that they need to "opt in" so the question is how do you contact all available bridal shops without going through the yellow pages.  We already plan to attend bridal trade shows but prior to that we had hoped to prematurely tap into the market.

The promotional sales just started and we were creating sales sheets to pass on to companies that could benefit from this item such as those that have something to do with summer so that the wearers would be "branded" so to say.  I do not know about you but having "Coors" or "Coke" the apple logo or my personal favorite the Mickey Mouse head tanned on my foot is something that would have a lasting impression and would bring lots of continual discussions from all that viewed it.

I would love to get into the larger promotional market as moving larger orders are always great. So my question is how would you suggest marketing to the marketing or promotional market.

Thanks

I would look into joining ASI as a supplier.
Get into their e-mailing campaigns and get yourself noticed by companies like myself who are promotional products distributors.

As far as opting in... create an informational newsletter, send it out and ask for something in return... maybe if they complete a survey, you can then send them a sample product or something that they will remember you with.

It`s not illegal to use email lists to send unsolicited commercial email, provided that you carefully follow the federal CAN-SPAM rules (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/canspam.shtm) as well as the applicable state laws (http://www.spamlaws.com/state/index.shtml).  Certain states carry some significant penalties, so be careful.

Thanks for the advice and I am now a ASI supplier

Thank you.  I do have a question as to what you think that the sandal should be priced at from a promotional or marketing standpoint.  Also what is the traditional percentage off of market price for wholesale in this market.

All I can suggest is to check out your competition and their pricing. I would check out www.neetfeet.com

Same product category, slightly different twist.

Hi Jack,

I actually searched on Sun for your site today.  I also searched for Dennis Beavers, because I have done promotional business with him before

I was looking for toothpicks, which I couldn`t find on either of your sites, but I did find a promotional site that had them..

Just wanted you both to know, I would have gone to a Sun member first, for my business!
