I think you would have to already dabbled in it already. If you start something you are not familiar with, you will fail. I believe people can success if they plan and educate themselves.

I think it`s important to find your passion, and then try to find the niche of that and build a business around that. You really need to know and have a passion for your business, so what better than doing something you love.

Does that make sense?

At the biginning, I think you just need to start the business you are very familiar with.

Know your interest first, or on what you do best. What skills do you have and what can you offer to your customers. That's how you identify your business.

A business that relates your hobby, your interests, the one which will be enjoyable & of course which has scope for expansion fits best IMO!

I looked for "the perfect" business for years - and run low on funds "looking".  If this is your first time, there are many businesses out there.  Don't wait for the Mercedes first - be happy starting with the little beater to get you started and learn what it is to run a business.

I wanted to be in manufacturing, but ended up in recycling.  As I look back, being a simpler business allowed me to learn all of the new areas I hadn't dealt with before.  There is a LOT to learn just running ANY business if you haven't done it before.

Don't look for perfect - look for good enough. (smile)

Hope this helps...

My business started as a hobby and turned into a career.  I dare say, it is still an avid hobby :)
