Yeah, That`s exactly how it happened. Opportunity knocked me out flat.

Here I go thinking and dreaming as to how to start my own business, when this very old client of mine walks in one day and announces his plans of starting a "Home Security Solutions" . He simply plonks the whole of the growing, marketing and sales responsibility on to my shoulders and says that I need to be incharge of this baby until it grows up and beyond.

Man, I am so full of excitement, trepidations and expectations. I am bursting at seams and I had already lost a cool 3 days sleep. All the while it remained a dream, I was confident enough, now that it plonked into my hands, I am so weak at the knees that it can crack under my own weight.

I am now a business owner. The growing and shaping of my business is my responsibility. Spray and pray, God don`t make me bray!

I was tooling along, fishing, doing contract work, playing with toys, and watching TV. I spent time online with a chat group, and we got to thinking about ways to make money. I had an idea for a service kind of thing, and got all fired up. So I drew some flyers, and figured out a basic shell organization.

A few days later, I went out to distribute flyers at the local shops. It was a beautiful Spring day, and I just was having a blast. I stopped in at a computer-book store, dropped off some flyers (for a technology service), and saw a bulletin board. "Help Wanted" and things like that; notes were all over it.

Under one page, I found a little scrap of paper. Someone wanted help in "PowerPoint development." I was curious, as you don`t often program anything in PowerPoint. So I called. From that, I got a freelance job with Jim, who wanted a training presentation about network setups.

We got to talking, and I mentioned I write a lot. He had a contract for a book, and doesn`t write so good. Next thing y`know, I was splitting the contract, writing a book! We finished, somehow, and sent it all off.

A few weeks later, having assumed we`d be notified when the book went to press, Jim was in Barnes & Noble and noticed OUR book on the shelves! Holy Cow! And from there, it went on to sell gobs and gobs of copies, royalty checks showed up, money happened, life changed, and BANG!....I ended up a writer!

As some folks would say, "When the universe is going to move you into something, it happens fast, and there isn`t a damn thing you can do about it." :-D

I am trying to figure this out. Are you exaggerating or telling the truth? This is some detailed post. I can see the rolling events, and if they happened that way. Congrats! ;-)

LOL! You think this is detailed? :-D I`ve been reducing down, keeping it to the basics lately, what with other stuff. But yes, if you`re speaking about my post, it happened exactly that way. The book is still on the market, just look up my name on Google, or "A+ Exam Cram." It took about 7 months from nothing to done. I did the presentation in November, book went to press end of June.
