Hi there!

I`m starting my new business (LLC), and I was wondering about getting a business credit card. How would getting a business credit card affect my personal credit?

I understand that the credit card company will have to check my credit when I apply, but what happens after that? Will the business credit card show up on my personal credit report?

I`m waiting for my D-U-N-S number, but I have not seen any application asking for that. Some ask for my business` EIN, and others just want my SSN and some basic info on the business, so that`s a bit confusing.

Editor`s note: this post was edited due to an html link that was so long that it broke the forum format, not for any content whatever.

Andre,

If you insert your Social Security on any application, your personal credit will be attached to the business transactions. A D-U-N-S number is design for vendors. For example, if you are using a manufacture to deliver product, they will report to D-U-N-S. Your Tax ID or EIN number is what most applications ask for. Your post was very thorough. However, many times you want a credit card to take care of start up cost...thus helping build your credit rather than just using your personal credit. Do you have any suggestions for the best business credit cards to get that are separate from your Social Security number....before you achieve the desired Paydex Score. I appreciate your feedback.

Thanks & God Bless!

There are absolutely ways to get business credit cards without using a personal guarantee or a SSN. You would have to establish a strong business credit score with DNB.
