My business partner and I are currently about to enter into a stragetic partnership with another company.  The other company will be reselling our application and services.  We plan to enter into the business partnership and offer the other company exclusivity to our application and service (we will not entertain offers to competitors of the other company).  The other company requested to partner with us.

Is it typical to ask for an up-front fee to enter into such a partnership/agreement?  And if so, how much money is appropriate?
