Hi all,
Here is my elevator pitch. Let me know what you think...
Haroldsays.com "Changing the way America does business by providing personalized, honest, consumer feedback."
Or, "Affecting the way America does business by providing personalized, honest, consumer feedback."
Laura, you clearly have uncovered a need and I imagine you never lack for clients. Pierre, thanks for a fun exercise - and it was truly a challenge, as I`d always been taught to have a 30-second elevator speech. Succint is better! My 10-word elevator promo is:
"I teach businesspeople how to advertise effectively without overspending."
The branding statement I use in my own advertising is
Advertising. Simplified.
Tip for future use: Laypeople should be able to comprehend what you do in your 10-word description. When you use industry jargon or acronyms, you`ll lose people, because they don`t want to admit they don`t know what you`re talking about. Unless you knew my industry, you`d tune me out right now if I started talking about the CAB`s report on CATV digital tier penetration in a top 20 DMA.
Unless you knew my industry, you`d tune me out right now if I started talking about the CAB`s report on CATV digital tier penetration in a top 20 DMA.
You mean a report from the Cable TV Advertising Association`s report on the market share of Digital Cable Subscribers in big cities ;)
LOL Good job, Adman. You`re very close, and of course one would expect you to understand it. But I think you get the point I was trying to make. In case anyone`s curious, CAB is the Cable Advertising Bureau, and CATV is simply Cable Television. Digital tier penetration would refer to the percentage of cable subscribers who get digital service, and DMA is Designated Market Area. A top 20 DMA would certainly include a large metropolitan area, but is not necessarily restricted to just one big city. I live within the Orlando DMA, #19 in the country last time I checked. But in addition to Orlando, the DMA includes Daytona Beach, Cocoa, Kissimmee (land of Disney) and numerous smaller cities in a 9-county area. When I visited Laura`s site, some of the 10-word descriptions used acronyms and jargon that left me clueless, so my post was just a suggestion with an example. When you use industry jargon or acronyms, you`ll lose people, because they don`t want to admit they don`t know what you`re talking about.
