Hey there, Craig Landes

Boy have I been way to busy to reply after read what you said I filed it under chapter 13, then I saw it on the web recently as it seems these are posted and searchable which means I have to respond to your dialect.

Lets clear it up here quickly there is no situation for you to understand Craig, you asked me to qualify my Tag lines I attempted to do that without going into my whole business with you and to let the reader know a little more about the author. Your attempt herein to analyze me and my business is far left of the topic and was not solicited and your comparisons of me to musicians I find particularly preposterous and insulting.

YOU STATED,. “In some ways, it reminds me of a lot of fellow musicians I met, caught up in the fascination of the technology. They`d get so in to the synthesizer they`d forget that a) most people don`t care, and b) they were supposed to be playing music! LOL!

Craig you’re actually really show your arrogance and your prejudice here, you try and insult me and everyone’s else’s intelligence with your logic which is some sort of delusional rambling about what you think I am doing and then you compare me to musicians while insulting a whole industry and its followers, you sound resentful, usually people slam others to make their insecure ego feel better.

Your wrong about “Music Synthesizers and Electronic music ” which is cool your allowed but don’t put me in the mix by saying I am lost in the technology and the world really doesn’t care. What are you thinking you can speak for the majority of population by saying we all really do not care about that type of music and there just supposed to be playing music, below is just a sample of a few little things you over looked with your statement about the Synthesizer instrumental compositions , which by the way I really like.

IT IS MUSIC! Below is a few of the users of Music Synthesizers and there compositions.

Genesis , Rush, Electric Light Orchestra, Yes, Pink Floyd, Parliament-Funkadelic,  Mahavishnu Orchestra, Yes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Tangerine Dream and Gary Numan. The Doors, The Byrds and Simon & Garfunkel and Simon & Garfunkel,  The Monkees and Cosmic Sounds by The Zodiac[11], both released in November 1967, The Notorious Byrd Brothers by The Byrds Carlos and Elkind then began recording a selection of instrumental compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, realized entirely on the Moog synthesizer, with each piece painstakingly assembled one part at a time on the multi-track tape.

The resulting album was released by CBS Records in late 1968 under the title Switched-On Bach. It quickly captured the public imagination, becoming one of the highest-selling classical music recordings ever released up to that time and earning Carlos three Grammy awards.[

In March 2006, Moog Music unveiled the Little Phatty Analog Synthesizer, boasting "hand-built quality and that unmatched Moog sound, at a price every musician can afford". The first limited edition run of 1200 were a Bob Moog Tribute Edition with a Performer edition announced subsequently.

Today a number of Moog products can still be purchased, such as Moogerfoogers and Minimoogs. The Minimoog is so popular, in fact, that they regularly sell for over US$3000 on online auction sites like eBay.

Maybe you’re just trying to be helpful but you need to look out because your character twist may creep out from time to time, if you stay inside the topic and your knowledge you will really be better off.

YOU STATED “So here`s what I`m thinking: It`s true that you likely have a whole line of business and a future relating to the actual machine itself. But the key question is this: What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

First off the machine inventions are projected to produce MILLIONS so Why are you writing without reading, I said I have been working over a DECADE the means 10 years, INK DREAMERS® is a incorporated company with many aspects of the same industry business under one incorporation.

Additionally I said at first we worked on developing a studios business, INK DREAMERS® INCORPORATED, COPYRIGHTED 2006, TRADEMARKED 2006, then we went into development of a BRAND.

I also said I used my E lectronics communications back ground to do R&D to bring about innovations and inventions to secure my companies position in the market!

YOU STATED “Do you want to be an inventor/engineer, or do you want to be an artist? Obviously, you can be both (and more), but for the purposes of focus, discipline, and structure....which would you like to make your main platform?”

WHAT are you doing Criag? We are talking about a Tag line, did I ask you to give me career advice? Do you have a Degree are you in Business; I am really wondering why you are taking a position of being an authority on business. You assume a lot here I have been running and managing business for over twenty years and I have education which included Business.

Holy Cow! I sense---reading between the lines----that you`re somewhat annoyed? It`s hard to tell, with so little to go on.

Having many, many times qualified MY posts as MY opinion, and being only a fractional part of this very long topic where people put tag lines up for OPINIONs by others, I stand by everything I say.

Frankly, whether or not your company succeeds is entirely your business. I`m not involved and don`t really care. My interest here is in voicing my opinion, offering my logic, explaining that logic, and providing solutions to what I see as problems.

Totally subjective. Totally MY opinion. Totally MY experience, and totally MY thoughts. If you don`t agree, that`s fine by me.

Since a tag line is the motto of the core business, then that tag line is a basic part of branding the business. If you don`t want to use it that way, that`s fine too.

Your rant on music and synthesizers makes no sense, excepting if you entirely misread my original comment. I don`t care if it`s synthesizers or cameras. I`ve seen it, many times, where people get caught up in the details and forget the goal. That may not be you, I brought it out as a thought.

I played synthesizers for many years. I also met lots of musicians who spent so much time with the technology they never played on stage at all. How that, in your view, turns into some weird monologue on the meaning of electronic music is beyond me.

A simple "no, I don`t agree" would suffice.

But hey....whatever floats your boat, y`know? I don`t care a whit whether or not you like or dislike what I have to say. Nor do I care if your business becomes a trillion-dollar revenue masterpiece. More power to you.

You placed your tag line here for others to comment on. I commented.

The fact that these forum posts are crawled all the time by Google and other search engines is meaningless. If you somehow believe I "speak for the whole world," then you have quite an exaggerated perspective of things. That, or "the world" must only be populated by about 12 people.

You`ve somehow taken my casual thoughts as some sort of FBI profiling operation! I spent about 6 minutes on the entire thought process. It`s a casual thing, which to me means a fun conversation to have in between other things in life.

I'm thinking wrong audience.  You say they are friends and family, so they already know what you do.  No curiosity.  Also, you say they are not business people, therefore, they probably aren't looking for websites, commercial or otherwise.

You don't go around "beating" people over the head with your pitch.  It should be ready to use when someone asks you "What do you do?"   They are mildly interested in you.  That is your opening to turn up that interest by giving them your pitch and then asking them what they do.  If you see a possibility for further discussion, take it.

Part of being a good salesperson is to know something about your prospect and how your offering would be of interest to them.

Your pitches are more informative than engaging.  Everyone knows what a web-site is.  Most everyone has a general sense of what social media is.  You need to get them asking you more about how you can help them, not the tools you use to do that.

For instance, I build homes.  My tagline is "Custom homes at cost".  It says what I do but provides a very interesting idea for those that are thinking about building or buyging a home: at COST!  It's not for everyone, but it is designed to get those who are interested to "raise their hand", so to speak.

So I normally get the follow-on question of: How?  And that's all I need.

I'd figure out a way to change your pitch from "Here's what I do", to "Here's what I do for YOU!"  Always, give them a reason, and self interest is always a good reason.

This is all unbelievably helpful for the most novice all the way to experts in business.  Thank you all for the excellent advice and helpful hints.  All that gooshy stuff said, I have a start up company I am trying to fund and launch, so this thread is especially helpful since I am getting ready to approach possible investors for capital.  My company is web-based and connects quality pre-screened tenants with equally qualified landlords.  What I have been telling people is to imagine careerbuilder.com, but for landlords (taking the place of employers) and tenants (taking the place of the prospective employee on the job hunt).

My elevator pitch:

Individually empowering, financially sound real estate solutions managed by you.

What do you think?  Is it too fluffy with not enough defining content or am I on the right track?  Thanks so much for your valuable feedback in advance!

Mbertrand,
I'd say that it is too "fluffy" and really doesn't say what benefit you provide.  For your general quick description - consider fine tuning your "connects  Prue-screened tenants with equally qualified landlords"
For capital sources, I'd include your "like careerbuilder" comparison
in the initial approach message.
While a attention grabbing approach message is important - you will need to prepare in order to successfully acquire capital while remaining compliant
If you wish to discuss your situation, feel free to drop me a Pm or contact me directly

Real estate investment? Over-saturated.  Funding those investments? Highly needed.

Best I could do at this hour.
