I'm new to being an entrepreneur - I'm just starting my virtual assistant business. At 60, I still have a FT job but I know that if I get laid off, my chances of getting another position are not good. I decided to start the VA business while I'm still working so that I can have a source of income if my job fades.

I'm going to have a lot of questions for fellow boomers and I hope to be able to contribute as well.

Boomers bring a lot of experience and insight to being an entrepreneur.  However some have latched on to social networking and technology better and faster than others.

I believe those who embrace it and can merge experience with today's technology fair best...unless of course you're Warren Buffet or Michael Porov. Both billaires are the rare exception that made it happen without a computer.

So I guess there's always a way for the person who is determined and focused. Wink

As a Baby Boomer I finally found my passion at age 52.  I discovered my talent and desire to help people my starting an Interior Redesign and Home Staging business.  I now teach others to redesigna nd stage and find the majority of the people taking the training are between the ages of 40 and 65.  Most have been out there in the corporate world and now are pursuing something that is rewarding and profitable and FUN!

I have been in this business for 10 years and enjoy every day.  Ooops! just gave my age away.

Wow Joel -

I thought at age 76 and still working in my electronics business, I was the only oldster doing that. I don't know what the word retire means.

I still have lots of ideas about new businesses that I would like to try with others. One is a TV sitcom, the other is regarding automobile repair, something very unique. I did come from the broadcasting industry in NY having worked for a TV network for 27 years.

Anyone out there interested? Especially if you're a sitcom write and/or auto mechanic with lots of experience.

Regards.

Stan Simon
