Hi Linda,

I have to say, I like your first marketing mission better.  Especially since most kids are playing indoors and by themselves in this era.  It sounds more inviting when you are encouraging their "Imagination" to be explored.

I hope this helps.

Eileen,

I really appreciate your comments. Although I wrote that post a couple of months ago, I'm still thinking about it.  I went to a BizNik networking event and was encouraged to make Whimsmoore's motto more specific for our target market which is mainly grandparents. Not sure I'm ready to ditch "Inviting children's imaginations out to play" ... I'm so glad you understood that message ... on the web site. But I'm thinking of the following on my business cards: "Featuring the Elf Toy of the Month for Grandchildren."

I'd be interested to hear your opinion on that.

Thanks again!

Hi Linda,

I'm not sure what the Elf Toy of the month means, is that referring to the grandparents as elves who bring a toy to their grands every month?  As I am not a grandparent, I may be missing the lingo Smile, educate me.  I could see using that phrase during the holiday season.

Elieen,

The Elf Toy of the Month is a toy/book package from the elves and the gift giver (oten granparents) to a child ages 5-7.  It can be ordered as a year's subscription or individually. It gives friends and relatives an opportunity to stay in regular touch with a child who may live far away. Although Whimsmoore has many product, this one is our unique, signature product.

Hello everyone! I just found this site last week and found this posting category today. I turned 50 in Sept 09 and now have 2 business running. I worked in the computer field for 30 years and became increasingly more frustrated. Companies who don't care about their employees and us older guys competing with twenty somethings who were born with a computer on their lap! I knew it was time to get out of the field and try something new. In 07 my wife and I sold the house in Fla and moved to the mountains of NC to start a video/game store. It was just about to make a profit when the economy went sour. We recoved and now own a salon (Salon92.com) in Woodstock Ga. Along with this venture, we started a company called The Bagman. We sell womens accessories to hair & tanning salons, boutiques and also do corporate shows and handbag parties. Since we love motorcycles, we have become a Hot Leather distributor and also do various motorcycle shows in Ga.

We are looking forward to a fantastic 2010. I love this site and love this forum. It's great to see Boomers doing what they really want to do. If your ever in the Metro Atlanta area and need to give your hair some attention, come and see us at Salon92 - ask for Coreen Huber.
