Time marches on. Thank goodness!! I am so much smarter than I was when I first became on entrepreneur at age 24.

This is a brand new forum category just for the Boomer over 50 crowd. Yes, we will be carding at the door.

Starting a business at this stage in life brings with it unique challenges and of course wonderful opportunities. This is the place to hash all of that out.

The brand new StartupNation Boomer Entrepreneurs Blog makes these 4 claims:

1) Boomers need help with a unique work-related challenge

2) Boomers express a different entrepreneurial outlook than younger people

3) Boomers have a lot of experience and talent and want to share them

4) Many Boomers want to do well and do good at the same time

Do you agree? Do you not? Do you have more to say? This is the forum category for you!

Hi Joel

I agree absolutely- tried it first at 27 and came unstuck after 5 years, spent
the next 25 denying my destiny, now back in the game at 57 and having a
ball.

Best of all I`m working with my son so we get to combine the new thinking
with the old experience.

Hi, Joel

I am very happy that you have strated this forum. Being over 50 and in technolgy. I find that getting a job is tougher. I started to wonder if the whole world of technoloy was filled with 12 year olds trying to act like adults. Any way my best hope is to becoming a consultant. Interesting my new job coach has talked me into becoming a computer trainer for non-profit community centers in my area. Teaching senoir citizen how to use the computer. I have to admit i like the idea and I am working on that now. Still I am glad you see the need for thsi forum. Ageism is a big problem and should be adressed. so count me in as a firm member of this group.

howard,

clearly there`s a market for what you`re considering focusing on... training senior citizens to use compueters. just look at the 30-year run of informercials for The Video Professor - a multi-million-dollar success.

good luck to you!

jo, we`re glad to add value in this way, but i would make a plea to you: PLEASE be vocal if you feel like we`re not addressing you or your interests. that goes for all reading this! in order for us to really do our job, we have to get your input. had you chimed in before our new blogger, jeff williams did, we would have gotten this forum category up much sooner.

glad to hear we connected with you on this... though it could have been earlier!

Thanks Rich for saying this...the truth of the matter is that I get so much information and all of it is absolutely free!.....from S.u.N.  Before your site existed I spent way too much time looking for answers by searching books, magazines, telephone calls...hunting down people that I thought would know what I needed to know.  You have made my life sooooooooo much easier!  and it doesnt cost me a dime ......From time to time I do have comments but I havent reached out .....just figured you guys are busy enough.....but now that you have made your offer known to me to give a shout out when I need to....well I will...

Thanks for reading and answering my post......it makes me feel....well....good ...to know that my input is important and being taken into consideration.....Thanks for building this   website so the rest of us can benefit from it and build our own successful businesses too.

Great Idea. I`m proud to be a `boomer` and have difficulty figuring out how I can feel so positive about what I have to offer and not able get it across to others.I love that you`ve discovered that I want to do well and do good at the same time. That`s very important to me.

I`ll be watching and contributing.

I am a 20 year old stuck in a boomer body.  This sounds like an interesting forum topic.  I just wish I could remember why...

All right ...I know from my pic it is hard to believe that I FALL into this class of people...but yes I do.

Now in response to Joel`s opening question ... YES on all 4.

I would also like to say that this is without a doubt the most helpful resource anywhere on the net ( and I have looked at 1000`s) and the price is right! For the first time I have actually tried to us site business sponsers for what I need, to help assure that this FANTASTIC site stays free to all those that need it and those that will in the future.

My hat goes off and all my appreciation goes out to all SuN staff and founders for their excellant work.

Thank You
