I am sure that many of you have already had "Oven Roasted Garlic".
But for those of you who have not (especially if you are a borderline garlic fan), it just may surprise you. The reason being, because the garlic, when roasted in the oven (read directions below) takes on an entirely new "sweetness" and UN-GARLICYNESS (yes! it`s a made-up word) that does not offent the palate. And pleeeeease, do not forget the many health benefits that garlic imparts on your body. Oh! and it keeps away VAMPIRES! As a matter of fact, most vampires check under their beds, and in their closets at night; in fear that "I" might be within close proximity (yes, I eat that much garlic). Preparation and cooking:
Take an entire bulb of garlic (or 30) and cut-off approx. 1/5 from the stem-end
in order to "expose"/open a little of each garlic clove`s fruit.
Then insert the prepped bulb of garlic in either a devoted "garlic roaster" (yes they are sold solely for this purpose). Or, simply place the prepped bulb on a double-layer of aluminum foil. Then drizzle a liberal amount of olive oil over the entire "opened area" of the bulb. Then close the aluminum foil around the garlic (making sure to leave a large "air-pocket" (pocket of air) when sealing in the garlic. This is essentially a cooking "envelope".
Place the envelope in a preheated oven at approx. 375F for 35 minutes.
When finished, each individual clove should be tender and darkened in color. And you should be able to "easily" remove/separate the interier fruit from each clove with a light squeeze (like toothpaste).
Use this garlic as a spread on bread (good bread - not "wonderbread").
Or, you can do what I do - and "pop`em in your mouth like candy baby!
Good eats and good health my friends!
