Hello all,

We have upgraded our website which specialises in retailing our own pearl designer jewellery online and really want to see what else we can do to improve it, in your expert opinion. At the moment, we are experimenting with the order checkout, by trying to make it short as possible. We have introduced a  “Quick buy” next to the standard "Add to basket" button, but it doesn`t seem to be popular. Does it really matter how many steps the order checkout takes? For example, our standard order checkout takes 4 steps (forms) to complete and the express checkout only 2. Both have optional account registration at the order confirmation page. Your expert advice and feedback would be highly appreciated.

Our web agency also suggested a feature, where we offer a little cash back from the order for the customers who complete the full profile (i.e gender, interests, perhaps some survey questions).  Do you think this is something worth doing?

This is our upgraded  website:  http://www.bobijou.com/

and

This is our previous version website:  http://www.bobijou.redleaf.co.uk/

Thank you
D.S

I think the header file is way too big - something you can condense by 50% vertically and still get the point across. It takes up way too much real estate before you get to the products.

For me here in Florida, the site loaded very slowly - not sure about anyone else.

The rest of the site is very nice. The forms are one of those things that everyone must deal with at one time or another. They are a pain, but have to be there for security and tracking reasons. The quick buy is about as short as you can get.

I think the incentive is to start a pearl club and give them points toward other purchases or free gifts in the future - almost everyone like to be part of something -

The file size of the banner image is large, over 80K... add that to the file sizes of all the other images = longer load time.

Thank you all for the valuable feedback.

Banners fixed. Now they are smaller and most importantly, in the background with alternative text displayed in case they are too big to download.

Also, now we are experimenting with our pearl boutique mobile version and Twitter.
Does anyone know any good mobile payment providers?

Thank you

Your site looks good. Very fitting for the product I think. And what an improvement over your previous site!

"Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed."

Anyway, one thought. White text does not stand out very well on light colors. This applies especially to links on the grey gradient. Even the logo though (while a great logo) does really stand out as well as it should on the pink.

Good luck!

Thanks. Where  have you seen "Directory listing denied"?

I agree, but unfortunately, corporate colours enforced by marketing department. Pink and light gray colours is the real pain to work with. Not sure how that can be fixed.

Is there any way to make the home page less busy

it seems like there is too much information.

Most jewelry sites I have been too do not have near as many links or pictures to start off.

Its too overwhelming for too even shop.
