Microsoft - July 1 added the ability for users to search Twitter tweets with its Bing search engine. Complete article

Something Google does not do (Google searches Twitter profiles but not Tweets).

Google has such a large market share... it will take a while to eat into it, unless Google stumbles.

Bing.com is gaining its` share of use... it needs to keep making in-roads VS. google - like the Twitter search... to give a reason for people to use it.

Bing.com`s commercials imply Google search results are not a relevant (useful for decision making) as a bing search results. That is a hard sell.

Since the Yahoo deal fall apart...Microsoft has gone back to the drawing board to develop a new search strategy, with big ad dollars behind the effort, Bing may just find a place out there in cyber space.

Ehh, that may clutter up a lot of searches? Im sure many people don`t care about tweets in their SERPS. If I want to search tweets I go on twitter.

At this time it only affects Bing.com search results. However, Twitter is too large now to be ignored and almost mandatory for business to have a Twitter presence.... as that continues to happen Twitter content will become more relevant to "normal" searches.

Smart Twitter users are already optimizing their Tweets to highlight keywords.

I imagine at some point Google will have a real time search, they may not use Twitter... they may create their own.

It is very healthy to have competition. MSN seems to be putting a huge number of resources into Bing and I hope they continue. Google`s had it all its own way for quite a long time - not that Bing is about to knock Google off as top dog any time soon.
