Hello all,

I haven't posted for quite a while because things have been so very slow in our business.  The exciting thing is that we have a great opportunity to grow immensely, but we need to come to an investor with a very good plan of attack.  I need to find a large list of the best web sites to place ads on.  We have a very specific demographic -- Christians, but are looking mainly for sites with obviously a lot of traffic and updating content that brings people back to those sites on a daily basis.  Any ideas where I can find lists of high-traffic sites that would be good avenues for us?  Thanks so much for any help you can give!

Chris,

It would be great to know a few details about what you're trying to do.  Here are a couple of suggestions:

1.  Ezine Articles - write unique content that brings in traffic.

2.  SEO - what are people searching for that you offer

3.  ReferralRewardsNetwork.com - again, not sure what you're offering, but if you're offering a referral reward, this is a great place to list your site.

Gotcha.  Have you considered running an Adwords campaign?  What about a targeted Facebook campaign?  Are you only looking for specific sites to advertise on?

Definitely have considered the FB route and adwords.  Also looking for sites that are more conservative-based.  It's tough tracking down sites that have a specific theme or general population that consistently view those sites.  Does anyone know of a way to search for those types of particular sites?

Chris,

My tour biggest recommendations would be to get your profile on LinkedIn and Plaxo first and then Merchant Circle and Hot Frog. You may not actually get any business from Merchant Circle or Hot Frog, but it will help boost you up on Google and they are all free.

Good Luck

You could use the databases at Alexa to search for sites that meet your criteria and evaluate their traffic. One specific site we evaluated based on their high traffic was http://www.christianet.com.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the info...sounds great!  I had forgotten about Alexa...are there any other sites similar to this?

We're looking for Christian sites for advertising, but also conservative sources of information...those are the types of demographics that our product would sell the most of.  Sites like Drudge Report, etc.  Any other thoughts or ideas would be wonderful!  Thanks!

Chris,

Have you tried to get your products carried by the major hunting/outdoors catalogs and stores (Gander Mountain, Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, etc.)? You can find out more about Gander Mountain (my Dad's favorite) at http://www.gandermountain.com/vendors/.

What about contacting small, independent sporting goods stores either directly or through the distributors that serve them?

Good luck!

You can use google adwords or even google content network.

Using google content network will allow you to put your text ad

or banner ad on other peoples websites.

You can target the high traffic websites and simply have a text

ad on the site. Google also allows you to track to see if the ad

is working. Using the content network will allow you to get massive

amount of traffic to your website.

The investor specifically requested we look at sites with banner ads...sites that have 100K unique visitors a day and hit our demographic.

Molly, great ideas and stores that we've gone to in the past, but there are barricades up against us at the majority of the big box stores at the time.  This is actually a slightly different line of clothing than the hunting garments and accessories we manufacture, and opens up a whole new clientele to us.

I've noticed that there are major companies that handle advertising for the high-ranking sites.  Does anyone know of the other major ones that we could go through?  I'm already working with intermarkets, but are there others that you all have worked with and seen results?
