Hi all! Sorry this is a bit later than usual. What`s going on this week? What are your goals?

Question of the week: Are there any things that happened when you were a child that formed your entrepreneurial spirit today?

Hey Chris!

Going on for the week:

1.  Open house cocktail party for the new Four Seasons Palo Alto (one of the benefits of having a CPA/MBA combo - established wedding vendors want to work with me!).  They get invited to parties.  They invite me to attend, too....Gotta love it. :)

2.  Meet & greet with a photographer I plan to work with...

3.  Attend a bridal show training meeting...

4.  Last but most certainly not least - we`re off to Maui Friday for a friend`s wedding.  With any luck, I`ll get a little more practice with the whole day-of thing under my belt.  And, we`re going to go tour a few facilities if we can arrange it as well....

My goal is to keep up with my call-backs/initial contats to new propects, etc.

As for something in my childhood that formed my entrepreneurial spirit - here`s a few:  Hanging out at my dad`s appliance store.  School fundraising things we had to do.  And, having to get awesome grades so I could get a full ride in college probably did it, too...

Hey Chris I was wondering what happened yesterday.  I was planning on doing if for you, but I didn`t want to step on your toes . 

This week plans are to continue to advertise in various places, that are of course cost effective...I gotta keep watching the pocket book.  My husband is a firefighter and mentioned that Miami dade is having a fishing tournament and is allowing perople to advertise, so I`m gonna be on that like white on rice. 

Other than that, no other plans.

I got hit with several large wholesale orders at once so my whole week is going to be filling orders and hiring a part time employee. My younger son`s hearing test is today and he starts therapy tomorrow so that is a big part of my week.

Childhood stuff that formed my entrepreneurial spirit... my parents never handed out praise, so I was always driven to seek that. Nowadays I don`t care much about praise, but that drive has stuck with me. Sometimes it stinks because I get into a "nothing I do is good enough" mode, but I snap myself out of it often and try to appreciate what I have - a growing business, a great spouse, two miracle babies and a roof over my head.

My upgraded, SEO site goes live on Wednesday! I will not be displaying as many products at first but will slowly get everything back online. Each product description is being re-written for better SEO also. What a job... I have about 170 products!

Vincent - Good for you getting all of that done! Hopefully you`ll get indexed by all of the biggies soon. I need to redo my site too. It was SEO but I changed a lot of things and now it`s kind of half-a** done.

Chris... Filling orders and hiring a part-time employee? I`m cool with filling orders... but hiring part-time employee would be new to me. You are one step farther than before. That`s great!

Give me a few more days... OK... several months...   But I will get there!

Yeah, well I do have a friend who comes here about 6 hours a week to help (I pay her) and my sitter helps when the kids are napping, so I guess adding another person isn`t that big of a deal. I need to do it right away. It was slow for a few weeks but suddenly I have to get 100 cases of dips (13 per case) together and about 12 cases of nuts to fill these orders! Yikes! I think the cooler weather is waking people up!  I have to admit, I`ve got that autumn-in-New-England feeling. I gotta go buy some mums.....

Hi all -

Crazy busy right now - in preparation for going on a short vacation next week.

Most of my time this week is being spent working on my next book.  A few design projects are set to be completed this week - a newsletter for an AIDS residential treatment facility, a postcard for a theatre company, and the signage for a medical spa.  Yesterday I took the time to respond to an email interview from a woman writing a book to be called Creatively Self-Employed: How Writers and Artists Deal with Career Ups and Downs. (I will always make time for an opportunity resulting in some free marketing/promotion.)

Almost forgot about Chris` question:  As kids, my siblings and I were always making something to sell to the neighbors.  The enterprise I always remember was picking the blooms off my mother`s prize roses, mashing them up in water, bottling the liquid and attempting to sell it as rose perfume.  My mother was not real pleased.

Plan for this week?! My parents are coming TOMORROW!!! I am doing my best to clean up the place; clean up the fridge by dumping away all food I might get a nag from them.

my reason is just like yours, Chris, and Kathy`s ... but will write more later.
