I have a food product I`d like to sell to independent pizza restaurants. The market seems right for it at first blush, but I have absolutely no idea where to start to find out what`s required in producing and distributing a food product. Any pointers on where to start my research would be much appreciated.

Start with the FDA guidelines for selling a food product. That`s assuming you intend to sell it in the US. :-)

I think your first step is to listen to the Cheese Disk Philosophy!

I saw "pizza restaurant" in your post and immediately thought of this podcast from the Sloan Brothers ...
