I am curious, would there be any interest on the site for a forum topic for bartering or Wheels & Deals or job postings?

Lots of people here have great products for sale and I know oftentimes I barter goods for other goods or services. What a great place this might be to trade products/services.

Also, how about any deals you may have or items you might want to get rid of. You know what they say, "One man`s junk is another man`s treasure".

Would there be any interest in a place to post items you possibly want to get rid of due to possible upgrades or a place to post items you are looking to buy? I`ve picked up some spectacular used office equpiment that I would never have been able to afford if I had to pay full price, some we`ve resold and replaced, we just keeping working our way up. . .

How about a place to post job openings, or better yet a place for someone to post that is currently looking for work. . .this is a huge network, wouldn`t it be great to help someone in need of a job?

Just a thought for all the fellow SuNers out there.

SuN Market place handles products for sale, and eBay handles the garage-sale junk. :-) I`m not sure how a forum topic would make either of those "better?"

Well, not sure either, but, for us for instance, from time to time we like to run "specials" or "deal`s, around the holiday`s for instance and what a great place to advertise internet or sales specials for persons with products, or services. . .

Also, as I mentioned, we have picked up some great used office equipment and with people on this site at so many different stages in their business, if you are one that is fortunate enough to be further along in your endeavors and say you are upgrading equipment and have used equipment you`d like to get rid of, what a find it might be for someone who is just starting out. . .

It might be fun to have a place to post these things and if people are interested they can take a look and check them out and if not, they never have to open a single post. . .

I haven`t been around here very long, so I`m not sure my opinion counts for anything. I belong to another forum that has something like this, and it works rather well. It`s helped alot of people out. And personally, I`d rather sell something to someone I know from a forum than a stranger on Ebay. The problem becomes that there are always going to be thieves & SuN isn`t responsible for that, no one can expect them to moderate such a topic or such deals, etc.

Wholesalerep, it doesn`t matter how long you`ve been around, everyone`s opinion counts!

Thanks for the note, I also belong to other forums that have threads such as these and they are a pretty busy part of the forum. It`s a win win, you get to offer up your product or service to potentially new buyers and the buyer gets the reward of a sale or discount. . .

I think it`s a good idea.  Why not make this the thread?  Yes, we have the market place, but that might not be appropriate for some stuff.  Right now I don`t have anything except my regular products for sale, but I hope you`ll check out the site and join the Birthday Club!

Hi Diplady,

Be careful using the bartering system to conduct business.  The IRS has gone after people who use the barter system to receive goods and service in a business setting and didn`t report the exchange.  Both parties are required to report the dollar value of the service or goods received.  It’s alright for a neighbor to exchange items from a vegetable garden for fruit off another neighbor’s trees.  But, trading service or goods in lieu of payment can be construed as a business transaction.

Bartering is a great way to exchange products and / or services at times. A good way to set up an ongoing relationship (which can also lead to additional customer base) is through a trade exchange.http://www.nate.org/ is a good place to start. They keep all the records and keep you legal with Uncle Sam.

I save exchange credits for the things that I don`t want to spend money on (i.e. vacations and family adventures) and makes the deal seem like bonus revenue.
