I’d like to know peoples thoughts on a good bank for a VC financed startup. We have used Comerica in the past, when they were located in Kirkland, Wa.

Now, there isn’t a branch or ATM for deposits near my business.

We currently use Bank Of America and transfer money out to an ING Direct Orange business account.

I’d like to use a bank where I can take advantage of a sweep account to earn interest on the amount sitting idle.

I work in the Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond area in Washington state.

Thanks

J

What I would do is open the phone book and call banks.  You have many new commercial small banks that have opened up in your area.   If you`d like the name of a Business Development person at KeyBank, Sterling, or Wells Fargo, email me through my website.

Also check to see who sponsors NWEN or Tie-Seattle or who might be listed on the VC website who are your investors.

Check out WaMu. Their earning rate is about 4.88%, the highest in the industry, as are their business money market accounts, and of course they are all over Washington.

I`d be glad to introduce you to a local WaMu banker.

I use three banks for my business activities. (1) A local Federal Credit Union that offers the best rates on loans, CD`s and investment products; (2) Bank of American because it is one of the largest U.S. banks; and (3) HSBC Direct for their high-yield online checking account.

Most of my online merchant transactions are through Paypal, and they offer free and direct wires to any of my bank accounts.

You might investigate Square 1 Bank which provides traditional banking services to VC`s and VC backed companies.  They have an office in the Seattle area.
