Oh boy! I just blogged about this customer service experience earlier in the week. Yes, it`s true, I actually yelled at the business owner in front of an audience of customers that I will NEVER EVER come back to his place of business again.

Read the blog for the full story - well most of it anyway.

Sorry about your experience at the gas station, but you have a great article on customer service.

Having managed a pretty good sized account that included providing customer service, I am blown away by how badly some companies treat their customers.

I had a salesman call me (totally unrelated to my account) who got so upset with me that I wouldn`t buy his product that his voice got louder and louder and finally he said "I`m a busy man," to which I replied, "I`m a busy woman," and I hung up on him.  I was never so mad in my life.  He interrupted my busy day to tell me he was too busy to talk to me since I wasn`t buying his product.

Needless to say, we never spoke again.

I also have a gas station story to tell.  In my town there was a gas station that proudly displayed a sign that they pumped gas for women on a certain day of the week.  When I pulled in on that certain day, I looked through the window and saw a man immediately duck below the counter leaving only a young girl to mind the store.  I knew it was his job to pump the gas so I waited and waited and waited.  He never resurfaced again so I proceeded to pump my gas and went in to pay the young girl.  The man had no where to go then, so I gave him a tongue lashing and asked for the phone number of the owner of the station.  I didn`t follow up with the owner, though I should have.

Again, I never went back to that station again, even if they did have the cheapest gas in town.

I have experienced the same problem at another gas station that the pump was moving slowly. Apparrently, when two vehicles are pumping at the same time, pump #1 and #2, it slows down. The huff of the gas pump suppose to signal the pump to stop. I find that the gas stations with the old pump systems are having the most problems because the vendors are not maintaining the pumps anymore. They are maintaining the numeric pumps. Because gas stations are not making much money at the pump, it will cost them more to replace the pump system if they are a local store. I am pretty sure you was not the only person that had this problem. The owner is frustrated with his business, not you.

Gas station is a common place for all the crimes, cashier might be really tiered looking all those. I personally might have seen 4-5 steeling and many vandalizing so it`s obvious not to see the required customer care at a gas station
