Hey everyone! This is such a helpful site; glad to be a part of it!

Here`s a question that always elicits some interesting responses: What`s the worst hotel you`ve ever stayed in?

I`m sure, as business people, we`ve all stayed in some shady hotels...I know I have, that`s for sure! A few weeks ago I went to Vegas for my friend`s birthday, and first of all, the hotel stuck us on the first floor with a lovely view of the dumpsters and the hotel alleyway, and when we went to sleep we noticed a coffee-like stain on the sheets (at least we think that`s what it was), however the best part is that the room didn`t have a coffee maker in it....yikes.

Check out this video called "Ballad of a Traveler" - I`m sure many of us can relate to this guy:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2tgnUsj8NE

Let me know what you think!

I work with Hampton Inn, and I`d love to hear some of your stories about awful hotels or trips....this should be interesting.....

I once stopped at some shady looking roadside hotel in Arizona somewhere.  I was trying to drive straight through to L.A. that night but decided to pull over.  I was tired.  It was late.  I wasn`t being picky.  I just wanted a bed.

But the room had what looked like dried blood splattered all over one of the walls.  I swear I thought a murder could have taken place there the night before.  I`ve seen enough crime documentaries to know that splatters have certain patterns based on their cause.  I mean, it might have been wine or something less gruesome with a strange but completely rational explanation.  But we`ve all seen Psycho.  I personally don`t have fears of crazy people in crazy hotels trying to kill me but I sure as heck wasn`t staying there that night.  I ended up finding a cleaner roadside hotel that didn`t look like a homicide scene.

That`s one of the scarier stories I`ve heard, actually. Wow.....what`s the name of that hotel so we know to NEVER go there??

Glad to hear you found a cleaner (and perhaps safer?) place to stay.

Did ya check out that video? I think it`s hilarious, haha!

Anyone else got any stories? CampSteve definitely started us off right!

I think some of the scariest things are bed bugs! Can you just imagine getting into bed and feeling little things crawling up your PJs?? GROSS!!!!!!!!

Yeesh. Anyway, what are you all doing for Labor Day? Mmmm...gotta love those three day weekends, eh? I know I do!

If you`re heading out of town, Hampton Inn is offering 10% off the best available rate until Sept 1, 2008, aaaaaand they`re even giving away bikes, vacations and all kinds of stuff. You can check it out HERE! Just thought I`d throw that out there

Hope you`re having a great week and have a relaxing weekend!

When I was driving x-country in `95 I checked in this hotel in Terre Haute that had very dark paneling on all the walls. I was sitting on the bed and swore I kept seeing movement out of the corner of my eyes, but when I looked, I couldn`t see anything. Finally I got up to check it out and I realized I was seeing about a half-dozen cockraoches crawling around on the paneling. I looked at the rest of the paneling and realized further there were about a hundred or so cockroaches crawling on the walls all around me.

gaaaaahhh....  I hightailed it out of there after demanding my deposit back and tracked down a high-end-ish chain hotel for the night. I showered for like 30 minutes just trying to wash off the heebie jeebies. That was like 15 years ago and I still shudder in disgust. God only knows what lurked under the covers.

I don`t want to think about scary, or the bugs.  Don`t freak me out!
But I  do remember  a late night....`have to stop, for the motel`. It was okay, but when we left in the morning, I looked back and saw the entire motel was pink.  I love pink, but yikes!!!!

small towns are more likely to have a motel, not hotel:

maybe Midnight Motel?
