I`ve written quite a few articles of my own, and it`s fun to see them in all sorts of places. There`s 2 values to the process, depending on your needs:
1) You can use it for viral marketing for your company. (It`s part of the reason why there is over 700 results for variations on my name when you search Google for me.)
2) You can use it for content for your company newsletter if you are small and don`t have the resources to have your own articles. (I`ve seen some of my articles in places like veterinary office and grooming shop newsletters.)
When I submit an article, I only submit to one place. I know there are article submission companies that will submit it to thousands ... but I like to place the emphasis on content so I don`t really want to put the same article in 20,000 places. Most of the sub-directories will pick it up from the main one and put it in their own anyway.
I also try to make my articles as unique as possible, using specific language instead of generalities. This 1) provides a better experience for the reader, and 2) makes me able to search for my article using Google. (I found an article last week that had been claimed to be authored by about 50 different people! This is the problem when you use generic articles.)
Do you use article marketing? If so, how?
