Its good idea to post articles to get backlinks.  I do submit article high PR sites like ezine articles and buzzle etc.  But, I heard that submitting to article directories can increase your visibility.

Interesting thoughts.  My experience has been that article directories work but not as well as most people think.  Its better to put the content on your site and build your brand that way - getting links in other ways.  And if you do pursue article marketing or put articles on your own site, pursue longer tail keywords (with less competition) so your content doesn't get buried.  Here's a post on the topic : Long Tail Keywords : Using niche keywords to get traffic most businesses miss

Excellent pointers. I am doing article marketing myself and I think I got a couple or more relevant info from the ones you have listed here. And yes, avoid posting similar articles to different article directories. That is why I make sure to focus on the top article directories so I won't be slaving myself on writing too many content and I can just focus on them because there's where a lot of the traffic is concentrated on.

I agree article marketing is important, and also having good quality of content is more important for improving serp, traffic and back-links as well. Ezine and buzzle are the good article directories for the point of serp, traffic and back-links as well. And summit articles in those sites which accept only unique article like ezine and buzzle.

Article submission still has value? I thought this activity has been devalued since Google's Panda Update. Is this true or a misconception??
