Getting on Oprah seems to be the answer to selling out books and products.  Check out “the Oprah Effect” and see if you’re ready.

Thanks for sharing this Drew.

And just a quick note, before you pitch the producers, decide whether or not your story angle and goals match the tone and audience for the program.

While it`s great to to pitch "Oprah," if your business or organization doesn`t fit with the program, or the audience you are trying to reach, you`ll just waste time and effort.

That`s a great point, Melanie.  Not everyone is ready for Oprah (or even close).  And even if they are, it`s not the end-all solution for moving product if the product doesn`t match the audience demographics.

Since Oprah would not allow Palin on her show until AFTER the election, I think we can pretty well understand what the Oprah "Effect" is and how it is used.

Obama appeared on Winfrey`s show in January 2005 and in October 2006.  Hmmmm.

Being that the "Oprah Effect" has featured many companies with owners from all backgrounds, I don't understand what you're getting at James.  Her audience is mostly white women and Obama is African-American as is Oprah.

Looking at her statistics her popularity is actually greater among white women.  I know this because I have the type of company that would fit in with the "Oprah Effect".  However, I am wise enough to understand just how ready you have to be to handle the wave.
